Subform Seizure Event

I have a subform that shows in continuous forms mode. When the parent records is changed to one that has more than one or two records the subform goes into a screen flutter mode for several seconds and stops with mouse click or its own readjustment period.

It's not the sort of thing that impedes function, but it doesn't inspire user confidence in the application either...
Anyone know what's causing this?

OK maybe this is a solution: I created a query based on the table for the form recordsource rather than just the table itself. I think it's stopped--go figure...
