Subform disappears

I have a form that I have just added a subform to (using the wizard) and have not put any of my own code in as yet or changed any property settings. When I open the form in form view the subform fields do not show unless there is data in it. I have used subforms many many times and never had this happen. I am using a tab control and have since added another subform to another page, no problems. Anyone able to shed some light on where to look for reason for this strange occurence???

1. Is your subform based on a non-updatable query?
2. AllowAdditions set to No?

If any of the above, it is normal that the subform doesn't show anything.

Thanks for your help. Neither of those were my answer but it did make me think along the same lines and I found that it is because my main form is set to not allow edits.
