customer is going into a submenu with a pressing 8 for a different selection of departments if the caller makes no selection it says "exiting the system good bye" instead of sending the call to the operator.

if they make a selection is there anyway for the system to default to the operator instead of disconnecting.

Are you using a CP100/150/NAM/ Startalk Flash
Have you built a CCR tree and how is it Configured??
Do you have return to AA set to yes?
In f982 is operator status (Y) and assigned to ext?
In f983 in the Table you are using is your attendant the same.
If so, you need to record in your greeting ( to reach the operator dial 0 ) Usually this is done in Path 0 of the CCR tree at the end of the main greeting.

The callers will be routed depending upon what you program the AA to do.

NAM 4.1

BUILT: MAIN MENU, THIS IS SELECTOR CODE 4 WITH ANOTHER MAIN MENU THEN 81,82,83 ETC.

Do you have return to AA set to yes?
YES

YES

YES

RECORDED, THIS ISSUE IS WHEN THE CALLER MAKES NO SELECTION ONCE IN THE SUB MAIN MENU ( 8 ).

The callers will be routed depending upon what you program the AA to do.

What options are you giving them in sub menu 8??
Are your sub menu's/ info /leave message/ or menu???

Info and leave message menu's will allow you to select Prev/Home/ or Disc. Transfer menus will route the call int/ext.
You have to assign a destination type at the end..

Within the CCR once a button is pressed to reach a sub-menu and then no other selection is made, "Exiting the system" is a normal function of all Nortel voice mails that can not be changed. The system is assuming the caller has hung up because nothing is happening. This is also true if you press 9 to change languages and then nothing else.

To step up in the menu, create an info box with one second of silence recorded and have the box step up in menu or return to "home". Then in the menu instruction "press x to return to the previous menu".

Defaulting to the operator only occurs if no digits are ever pressed from the initial answering of the line.

yes that is correct from the main menu if no buttons are pressed it will default to the system operator properly. But once in number 8 sub menu it disconnects a collar is no buttons are pressed.

I'm able to program a selector code for everything under submenu 8 for example 81, a to call maine 3, but it won't allow me to program anything for 80 .

assuming what you said then the system does not allow 4 the recording to say or please wait on the line and you'll be connected to an operator.

In the NAM 4.1 you have the options of routing the caller back to home greeting/previous greeting or disconnect. That option only applies to information menus/ leave message menus and transfer menus.
If you are selecting a menu for 80 there is no option available for routing caller after recording message.
You cannot reroute the call back to main greeting via dialing a digit on the NAM only CP100/150.
As for 80 are you saying it will not allow you to build a path for it or not able to record a greeting???
You can only assign a maximum of 8 options to each menu...

I just dialed into a NAM and I stand corrected, you can apparently route the call back to the main greeting by pressing *. However, this does not resolve your issue. The call will disconnect if no response from caller.

thanks for the clarification everybody.

it's not really a bad thing it's just I don't like hanging up on callers unless maybe after the menu repeats the standard 3 times.
