Hello:

We recently created a wordpress blog for our website. Wordpress offers domain mapping that will redirect blog.ourdomain.com to ourblog.wordpress.com. For the redirect, wordpress says to add the following CNAME record to our DNS: blog 14400 IN CNAME ourblog.wordpress.com.. We run our own DNS servers (Windows 2000), and I am not quite sure how to add this record. Do I open up the ourdomain.com DNS file in the winnt\system32 folder and add the record? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Open the DNS Manager tool on the server.

Make sure the management tool can manage DNS on your DNS server.

Open the Forward Lookup Zones folder.

Find your domain in the list there.

Right-click on the domain and choose "Add new Alias (CNAME)"

Then put in 'blog' as the record name, and 'ourblog.wordpress.com' as the host name.

That will create the entry in your zone file for you, and now you should be able to go to "blog.yourdomain.com" and get to the wordpress blog.
