Streamer HP DAT72 only with 36GB under Suse70

I use a HP DAT72 Streamer on a Suse70-Server. With the Taper-Module (or tar or cpio) I only can backup 36GB on one DDS5-Tape. Has anybody an idea how I can use the hardwarecompression to get 72GB on the tape?

The option "mt datcompression" is "on" but I still cannot backup more than 36GB on the dds5-tape...
