HI Guys,

Hopefully someone with some experience can help me out. I currently have 3 servers with a total of 200Gb of data. I currently backup to disk using veritas to our office accross the road but i'm looking into other solutions for this.

Was looking into a tape drive so i can get proper offsite backups and can archive more easily.

So, does anyone have any good experiences of large capacity drives or i was also looking into an HP auto loader that takes 6 72GB tapes as it is far cheaper than single drive devices.

If i go down the auto loader route, how do they work? Do i just pop in 6 tapes and let it backup and the next day put another 6 in?

Thanks in advance for any advice you give.

Cheers
Paul

Also, does anyone recommend a removable hard disk solution to this instead? I'm more a fan of tapes but if it's a good solution, i'd go with it.

Thanks
Paul

Hi

Why not go for an LTO2 drive and then you will fit all your backup on one tape (should get about 300GB on one tape with decent compression).

Needn't be too expensive....ADIC Fastor is a good one :-)

Thanks Birky, looking into an LTO2 drive right now. Whats ADIC?

Thanks
Paul
