Strange "moving documents" between profiles issue - Win2K3 TS

I have a weird issue. We have one Win2K3 TS setup, non-DC. One other Win2K3 Server DC. When a new user is created and logs in for the first time, one particular users documents (from My Documents in their users directory) "moves" from the user to the new users My Documents folder. NTFS security does not change.

I have been simply cutting and pasting them back to the proper users folder. I have tried recreating the first users profile, but to no avail.

We currently have a GP setup for TS users that remaps their My Docuements folder to \\[dc]\Users\%username%\My Documents.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
CJ

Sounds like a policy setting is in conflict.

One to look at is to move the files back to the old location when the policy is removed, un-check that so they don't move back.

Secondly look for the setting that says to put their documents in their profile directory, make sure that is off.

Make sure there isn't a conflicting policy on the terminal server or on an OU. Since you are using 2003, you can use the GPMC and it has a testing feature to see the results of a GPO on any user, thry that to see if the conflict shows up. The GPMC also allows you to review the GPO settings at a glance so you don't have to shuffle thru it to see what's going on.

Thanks for the reply. I did run a GP Modeling with this user, but did not find any GP that was in conflict. I know I checked this orginally, but I rechecked the NT security settings, and this users "user" directory was inheriting from the parent, which had Domain Users full conrtol as part of the ACL; I removed that. I also found that the owner of this users "User" folder was the last new user that was created. I reset this also. I'm still a bit unsure where this is coming from.

That being said, I did test creating a new user after making the changes above and this users Documents did not move into the new users folder. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
