Hi All

I have just come accross a strange problem at one of my clients.

They are using the Outlook from Office XP and are not using Exchange. They have a distribution list setup in the contacts list which has worked fine, but recently some contacts have had to be removed from the list so the user has removed them from the list and saved it.

Now when they send mail to the distribution list it sends it to everyone that was in the list originally and not the edited version's members, but if you view the list in Contacts it has the correct members.

I looked at the sent mail and under properties of the To field it lists all the previous contacts.

Any ideas on why this is happening? Do they need to delete the list and recreate each time the members have to be edited? (I admit we have not tried deleting and recreating as yet).

I'm wondering if the create new mail method looks at previously sent emails and not at the Contacts list?

Any help would be appreciated.

Justin

I assume something different:
Check if the distribution list is still in the Personal address book or anywhere else.

This might arise from the "lookup" order that is set for e-mail addresses. Outlook takes the address from the first occurence it comes across. So, if the order is set wrongly, you can alter the addresses in your "Contacts" - Outlook will still use the old ones from personal address book...

Thanks for the reply.

I'm confused though - I could only find one contacts list anyway thats within the PST file (its stand alone with internet email connecting to an internal POP3 server) and not a PAB.

Is there anyway to alter the lookup order? I followed what the help said bbut there didn't appear to be any options to do so.

In OL XP open the address book (via tool bar button or tools-address book)
There go to tools-options (in the address book toolbar)
You will see lookup address lists and order.
