I have a form which displays data through a linked table to SQL 7. When I modify a field, click Next on the navigation bar, then click Back and edit another field I receive the following message...

"The data has been changed
Another user editted this record and saved the changes before you attempted to save your changes.
Re-edit the record"

I can reproduce this message consistently. When I initially change the record and click next the SQL7 table is updated.

Can anyone explain what is going on and possibly how to fix this?

Thanks,

Kyle

found this article on MS for you (searched Technet for part of your error message):

it is not your exact situation, but it looks like it will help. it has to do with the sql refresh rate...you are editing the second time too quickly. see the article--try adding docmd.requery to the After Update property of the form and see if that helps. I think it's saying it will make the record save, not sure. or if there are few users and it won't comprimise network traffic/speed for everyone else, you can set the refresh rate to a lower time and it will save to sql server more frequently, hopefully quick enuf for you to edit a second time without cursing.....

good luck--g
