Ok, heres the problem. I built my comp several months ago. It has ran clean with no problems until now. All of the sudden my comp started to randomly freeze. It doesn't lock up or give me any kind of error message, it just freezes (the mouse still moves). When this happens i have to just turn off my comp. I reformatted twice, but this does no good. Could a bad power supply be the source of this problem? What would be the most likely cause? Anyone have any suggestions?

The obvious question is "what changed?"

The less obvious issues would be:

Memory checksum errors
CPU flaking out

Bill.

What do you mean? What changed before it froze? I have noticed that it tends to only lock when I am using a program that accesses the internet. Also, sometimes if it freezes and I leave it for a while the screen goes blank and weird things come up like colors and stuff.

An obvious suspect is the video card. Ed Fair

Well I have ruled out the video card because it has never frozen while playing a game, running a benchmark, etc.

Actually I kind of thought it was the new detonator drivers... It seemed like the most obvious explanation since this didn't start happening until shortly after I installed them.

So it only happens in Internet apps? Would you happen to have a Logitech cordless mouse? I had this problem, too, and it had something to do with the scroll wheel on my mouse...
