Strange Cell Behaviour in Excel XP

Hey everybody,

This is a very strange problem. I'm building an application in excel that provides pre-made forms on spreadsheets. All sheets are protected. A lot of the time users enter text (frequently more than one sentance) into a cell, and the cell is supposed to expand and the text is supposed to wrap. That all works fine, but when a user goes to double-click on the cell to edit the text it deletes all the text. When I remove the protection, double-clicking doesn't delete the text.

The strangest part of all of this is that it isn't consistent across all sheets. Other sheets that appear to be formatted the same don't display the same behaviour; on a double click, the cell allows for the text to be edited as it is.

Is there an option that I've forgotten to set somewhere? Some guidance and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Nathan
