W2k server - dedicated VPN
Test machine WinXP pro
VPN setup according to wizard and Microsoft docs
2 network cards, 1 attached to local network, 1 attached to hub that is directly attached to WAN rounter. I changed the default Routing and remote access Input/Output filters temporarily to allow any in both directions. The default gateway of my VPN machine is my WAN router.
WAN router is strictly pass through - all ports are open. There is a firewall for my network, but the VPN circumvents this by having the WAN network card connected outside the firewall and the LAN network card connected inside the firewall.
VPN WAN IP is Public, issued by by ISP (68.143.0.0 network)
Test maching is also outside my firewall on another WAN IP issued by my ISP (68.143.0.0 network) So same subnet mask.
I can ping the VPN server from my test machine which routes from the machine, to the WAN router to the VPN Server, but I can't ping it from my house (a different ISP) and neither can a friend that works at MS (yet another ISP). Any ideas? Thanks.
