I have tested storing and running a backend file on a USB Flash RAM Drive. This alwows the user to allows have their Current Data with them. Everything works fine. Initial connection and table re-linking is very slow (about 1 to 2 minutes!) Once the initial re-link is done however the start time is normal.

Data Back up is done to the local hard drive. I would like some sort of automatic data back up which would be done while exiting the DB. Anyone have any ideas.

Does anyone have any other concerns or suggestions for such a "portable" backend scheme?

Qutie..... But what happens if this USB drive is lost?

I like the idear from a security point, but as I say if the drive is lost I cant even get to the data.. ;-)

They say that crime doesn't pay... does that mean my job is a crime?

Of course it is advised that password security be placed on any sensitive data and that the drive be backuped up prior to removal from the PC.

Also, how do you cope with differing drive letters on different PC's?
