Hi,

When I do a probe-scsi-all to find the external array storedge 3500, I get this message: No local loop devices. It does show the presence of the 12 external drives. After doing boot -r and format I don't see these external drives.

Thanks for any suggestion

I don't exactly know what you mean by don't see. If you go to /dev/rdsk do you should see soft links for each drive partition.

well, I don't have a SE3500, but says:

"The arrays are easy to deploy, manage, and expand with a common GUI management interface" and "Support for up to 1024 logical unit numbers (LUNs) with hardware LUN masking"

guessing: you need to create a lun first to get a device in format etc.

Best Regards, Franz

You need to load RM6.22 from sun download center for managing the 3500. open rm6 with /usr/sbin/osa/rm6(not positive, recalling from old memory bank)From there you can manage your 3500 and set up luns as needed. As daFranze said you need to set up the lun before format will see it.

This depends on whether-or-not it's an A3500 [which will need RM6 installed] or an SE3500 which will need sccli installed and then logging onto the array to set it up.

If its an A3500 then RM6 is quite straight forward, if it's an SE3500 then you need a bit more thought to get to grips with it.

Even a bad day at the races is better than a good day at the office.

It's an AS3500. I installed the RM6.22. I did a probe-scsi-all and it sees the drives. When logging and run this command: /usr/sbin/osa/rm6 it doesn't let me create a LUN. I am not familiar with array and don't know what a LUN is. What should I do next?

Thanks for everyone's response.

What messages (if any) do you get when trying to start rm6? It probably needs DISPLAY set and an xwindows client on the PC you're using it from. There is aof course the command line version - raidutil etc.

When I run the command /usr/sbin/osa/rm6&, then click on Configuration I get this message: No RAID Modules 'Could not find any RAID Modules'

I got it working. I downloaded and installed this file SAN_4.4.5_install_it.tar.Z from SUN.
