What is faster - a stored Sum query or a DSum() function?
Average number of records = 200,000.
Thanks in advance,

Since we have no idea regarding your table structure, data types, indexing, processor, local drive or network, how often the sum is needed, how frequently your data changes,... perhaps you should just test this yourself and report back.

Generally a stored (compiled) query will be faster than a function.

I had to thank you this way besides giving you a star. I tried a test and didn't notice that much of a difference.

I only wanted a more experienced person's confirmation. You provided this. Thank you so much for your reply instead of telling me to find out for myself like others did.

It is, in the long term, often more beneficial yo do the look for / test yourself. In this case, one would need a huge data set, a large degeree of patience and, perhaps, some additional tools / procedures to develop a meaningful measure of the difference.
