Hi:
I have a lab with Networker Server Network Edition 7.2 and one Storage Node, called FRODO. On devices option, i created a device with parameters rd=remote_host:remote_device (in this case a folder on the remote host, FRODO, and type of Media Tape as file) When i try to start a group to backup to remote device, storage node, the following message appear on details of group:

Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * frodo:index save: Setup of skip directive for 'C:' failed
Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * frodo:index save: error, no matching devices; check storage nodes, devices or pools
Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * frodo:index save: Cannot open save session with gms
Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * gms:bootstrap 1 retry attempted
Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * gms:bootstrap save: Setup of skip directive for 'C:' failed
Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * gms:bootstrap save: error, no matching devices; check storage nodes, devices or pools
Apr 15 09:38:38 gms: * gms:bootstrap save: Cannot open save session with gms

I don't have any directive applyed to group or client...

Someone can tell me what happen?

Excuses by my English, but I will try to improve it in the future

First of all, these save sets belong to the NetWorker server and must be saved locally at the NW server itself. There is no way out. This is most likely already your problem - the appropriate device can not be a remote device.

In addition to that, you obviously have setup the pool wrong. And do not use "Devices".

I configured a group named "SNODE"
into this group, exist a client: "FRODO"
On FRODO, i have a folder named "devicec" to contain backups.

On backup devices, I created a device named "rd=frodo:c:\devicec" with Media type = file.

I have a pool Named "frodo" asociated to "rd=frodo:c:\devicec" with label template "frodo"
This pool is a pool backup.

On the client properties of Frodo, the settings of save set is a folder on C:\test of frodo, and the properties of "Storage Node" are:
frodo
nsrserverhost

So what?

1. If you only have media of a certain pool at this node, you must not select a device. This usually causes more trouble than anything else.

2. Again, the client data can go to the storage node. However, the index and bootstrap belong to the sevrver's client and must be saved locally at the server.
