stopping the page-loading burp-gun

Hello all....

I know that in IE5 you can press Ctrl-W to stop script spawned windows from opening, and avoid having 561 new windows on your desktop, but how do you do this in Netscape?

Everything I've tried simply dumps all including the original browser window.

Is this a pox I must suffer or is there relief?
