Stop users from tempering with network config 1

Environment: workstations with Windows XP sp2 installed; all users must login using an account called "user".

I don't want my users to temper with the network config of the workstations. What should I do to stop them? Anyway to hide the network icon in the system tray and the control panel?

Are you on a domain or a workgroup?

Are your users logging in as a local administrator (meaning, is that "user" account in the administrators group?

I think the answer is group policy (well, local policy if you're on a workgroup).

For a workgroup environment, go to start->run and type gpedit.msc

Expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Network. I think you'll find everything you need in there...
