How do I set up my outbound trunk group to only send the caller ID number, and not the name as listed with the LEC?

Also, does anyone know which FAC is for answering someone else's extension when it rings? I don't know the correct terminology for it, but it's when my phone rings and I'm at another desk, I can type in a code + my extension to pick it up.

Thanks,
Josh

For outgoing name, you may have to contact your LEC and ask them to turn it off.
As for the call pickup, do a "disp fea" to get into the feature access codes and you should be able to find what you need.

yeah, but which fac is it? Is it called "call pickup"?

"Call Pickup" is what you use to pick up a call that is ringing at a station that is defined within your "Call Pickup Group".

When you enter the extension number that you are picking up the call from, this is called a "Directed Call Pickup"

Keep in mind that to use the Directed Call Pickup feature, the cor of the station that you're trying to pick up must have "Can pick up a call by Directed Call Pickup" turned to yes and the cor of the station you're trying to pick it up from must have "Can be picked up by Directed Call Pickup" turned to yes.

There are two different name issues with Calling Part Number/Name display at the 'far' end. On calls that originate and terminate on Definity equipment and have full ISDN/SS7 connectivity end-to-end, the name that you have programmed in the Definity is the one that will pass.

If the call is terminating in non-Definity equipment (i.e. a residentil CallerID box or another brand of PBX that does receive NI-2 name delivery) the name that is displayed is actually a database 'lookup' done by the receiving LEC to display a name. Not all receiving LECs pay the fee to do the lookup to get the name (they usually display "state name" call or 'unknown name'. If the LEC does do the name lookup, they pull the name listed in the database maintained by the LEC that provides your DID or local trunk service.

Marcell55 - Good call on the COR for directed call pickup, I had forgotten about that.

If I undertand this correctly, you're saying that the Definity is capable of changing my Calling Party Name as well? Right now we have scenarious where we need to show a different number, which is already in place. Adding a name would be great, and might get me a raise :>

Where do I go to make the change?

Thanks again,
Jason

Changing the name in the Definity will only work if you're calling another definity. If you need to change a name for 'public' display, you need to ask your LEC to change the name associated with a particular DID. Some LECs will, some won't.
