We don't have a read-write community name on some of our network equipment. CiscoWorks goes out and polls our equipment as scheduled, and we then get an alarm generated by our network management software, that CiscoWorks is trying to access the network with the wrong community name. I went in to CiscoWorks, and left the read-write community name blank, and it defaults back to "public", which results in the same alarm being generated.

Does anyone know how or where I need to go to shut off the polling or that community string on those devices so that the alarms are not generated?

if you log on to the devices a look at the config you should see community string in there. I think it you'll see something like "snmp server community <community_here> RO"
We can't tell you the community since you can put anything you want !!

That is correct. We only have a read-only string in the router. We don't have a read-write for various reasons. CiscoWorks, by default goes out and polls for a read-write and this is where we are getting the error message. I would like to find a way to shut off the polling from within CiscoWorks to correct this error so it doesn't even poll for it and create the error.
