Stop messages appearing when appending table

I am trying to prevent the messages appearing on the screen when I appending records to a table. Is there a way of doing this in Access 97. I think that in 95 you could use the Echo off command but I can't find its equivalent in 97.

DoCmd.SetWarnings FALSE

The opposite will re-enable warning messages...

DoCmd.SetWarnings TRUE
