stop error when installing XP

I am doing a clean install of Office XP. The problem I am having is the stop: 0X0000007A. Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error.

How can I get around this so I can install my OS? I have never run into this problem before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Disable Norton or other AV software.
Check that the BIOS does not have a virus protection feature on the boot sectors of your hard disk drives.

I have formatted the disk. Nothing on it. I boot to the CD. Still have problems.

BIOS has no reservations/protections on the boot sectors for a write?
