Okay, I have been beating my head against the wall with this one for a while. For the most part the computer runs fine. Then when doing various random tasks I will get a BSOD with the above error. Sometimes it is a stop ox0000007a or 0x00000077 which are kenel_stack_inpage errors. Checkdsk /r will not complete step 4. the first three steps finish with no errors. Norton Disk Doctor Says the drive is fine. Partition magic gives an error that "File Record Marked Used"
The logical disk manager says all disks are healthy, yet the event viewer at one time or another says all disks are predicting they will fail. I have a hard time believing nine disks will fail at one time. They all have separate controllers, so it is not a controller issue i dont think. It will not complete any sort of virus scan without locking up but when i did a scan from a boot disk it said it was fine no virusses. Just randomly crashes on all different tasks. I have run a test on the motherboard, cpu, memory, l2cache, video adapter, and burn in testing with no errors.
Disk read/write tests complete with no errors. The drive is a sata 160gb wd drive with an 8mb cache. Maybe the cache memory in the drive is bad? But wd drive diagnostics say the drive is fine no errors. ANY IDEAS? THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY as I have over 600,000 files on the drive. thanks in advance.

can you elaborate on this? you have 1 pc with 9 disks, or 9 different pcs with the same sata drive?

have you tried going to the drive mfg site and use the diagnostic tool on a boot disk to run an extensive surface check (similar to the bad sector check with chkdsk)?

I have three separate controllers in one pc for the disks.

4 drives run off a promise pci raid controller

2 drives run off of the primary ide channel

1 drive runs off of the onboard sata controller

2 drives run off the onboard ide raid controller

yes i have run an extensive surface scan and the wd diagnostic
utility says no errors found when run from a floppy boot disk.

The Motherboard is an asus p4p800-E Deluxe
processor is an intel p4 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb
memory is ddr pc3200 run in dual channel mode 2x512mb
video geforce fx 5750 256mb 525mhz memory 400mhz ramdac
audigy 2 platinum sound card
thermaltake 550w power supply
sony 40x cdrw\dvdcombo drive
sony dvdrw 8x dvd burner
6in1 combo card reader/floppy
dual monitors one 17in planar flat screen - aoc 21in flatcrt

any help would be appreciated as this is my primary workstation. I have several others to use, but it is my baby. lol thanks in advance.
