McAfee scanning engines used to have a hole that let certain viruses through. I believe this was closed by an application called stinger. Can anyone remember up to which version was affected by this hole, particularly is 7.1 affected and does it still need blocking with stinger

Stinger is a standalone on demand virus scanner / cleaner for only a few select virii. It does not do anything that their normal, fully updated antivirus product does not.
