I tried what you all said, this is what happens.
When I hit f8 it looks like this
MICROSOFT WINDOWS 98 STARTUP MENU
1)Start Windows 98 Setup from CD ROM
2) Start Computer with CD ROM Support
3) Start Computer without CD ROM Support
ENTER CHOICE:_

below at the bottom of the screen it does say Safe Mode PF5 but when I do that it goes to a black screen that says
A:\>
I then tried to type WIN and it says that it is wrong or something like that. I also tried typing C: and then typing WIN and that didn't work either. Please Help

Sorry Everyone This is what I am talking about, The above post is what I have done so far
thanks

WHEN I BOOT MY COMPUTER IT GOES THROUGH INITIAL STARTUP AND WHEN IT GOES TO THE SCANDISK, IT STOPS LOADING. SO MY COMPUTER HANGS RIGHT ON THE SCANDISK SCREEN (BLUE SCREEN). AND NOW I CANNOT GET IT TO GO ANY FURTHER. CAN ANYONE HELP ME GET WINDOWS TO BOOT. IT WAS WORKING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE COMPUTER FROZE, I HAD TO cntrl alt del TO REBOOT, AND IT HASN'T WORKED SINCE. ALSO I TRIED TO START THE COMPUTER IN SAFE MODE, BY PUSHING DOWN THE cntrl BUTTON ON STARTUP, AND IT DOESN'T WORK, IT SAYS THERE IS A KEYBOARDING ERROR. SO I AM REALLY LOST ON WHAT TO DO HERE. IF ANYONE CAN HELP I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

THANKS

What version of Windows are you running? Does anything happen on the scandisk screen or does it just sit there?

Sorry, just noticed you have Win98! That startup menu looks like the menu you get when you boot from a Win98 boot disk. Did you recently install Win98, or is this an older system that just started to have these problems?

Windows 98SE, and No nothing at all happens, just a blue screen that says scandisk, nothing is happening though

I've got to agree with cdogg, that menu you gave is exactly what you get when booting from a 98 boot disk.
This fact, along with you noting that it goes to an A:\ prompt, leads me to deduce that YOU HAVE A WINDOWS 98 BOOT DISK IN YOUR DISK DRIVE!,
This would explain why Windows (on your hard drive) isn't loading and why "WIN" isn't working and why you are just sitting at the DOS prompt. Check your disk drive, my friend, $5 says you have a floppy in there...;]
