I am adding a 2nd ATA HD to W2K svr, and want to change to dynamic and then mirror. Are these the correct steps in order?

1. backup all files on disk 0 (now basic)
2. turn off machine, add disk 1 as slave, reboot
3. change disk 0 to dynamic
4. change disk 1 to dynamic
5. mirror disk 1 as image of disk 0

After that, does it matter if the OS resides in its own volume for efficiency? This server is a low-duty box, but the data is critical.

Thanks!

1. backup whatever you are doing with your disks is a must
2. add disk 1 as primary on the second ATA interface if you have this
3. if your computer ATA interface is supporting mirror (hardware mirror) use better that option (as I know most of the motherboards with ATA are supporting this). Is much faster, and is not involving overhead of a software solution
4. You can keep them (it) dynamic or static. Whatever you want.
