Hello all,
I have a g650/s8720 system that connects to an external IBM IVR system via a direct connection E1 trunk. Currently when i do a status trunk the status of the trunk is "OUT OF SERVICE NE". What could be wrong with the trunk. Thanks

Check the signal group. Out of server NE (Near End) points usually to a problem with the signal group.

Thanks
ED

1a2 to ip I seen it all

Hello,
Thanks 4 ur response. The signalling group is fine because i have another trunk just configured the same way but is fine. what else could be wrong?

Hi sleekelly

Since your trunk is configured for and directly connected to an IVR you may want to check these thigs.

1. your Wiring - Diffrerent versions of IVRs carry different wiring conversions. For e.g if connecting via Cat 5e for example pin 1 on one RJ45 may have to go to pin 4 on the other end. Check your IBM documentation if there is any to verify what the correct pin out should be.

2. Did you add the ds1 ? Check and make sure the ds1 is added and the correct signalling configured. I am thinking your signaling should be robbed bit.

3. Run this command "test port (your D channel)" and verify the error number and consult your avaya documentation.

Hello evoguy,
This was not a new implementation. It has been fine for years and nothing has changed at least from the PBX side. However when i did a test on the signalling channel port i got a "fail" on Test no. "643" with error code 8. The avaya documentation says it means the circuit pack is "not in service". how could this be and what can i do to get it back in service. Thanks

try busying out the signaling group, release and test to see what the outcome is.

Is it possible that you could try changing your TN circuit pack to verify if the board has gone bad?

Also i take it that you IVR carries some type of dialogic card.. If changing the card doesnt work, is it possible that you can test this dialogic card. I know its saying the error is on your side but take all possibilites into consideration. I had a similar problem just a few weeks back getting my Ds1 to synch with my telco after a power surge...turns out my board was bad as well as their CSU/DSU. Therefore test the IVR side as well. :)

Do keep me posted..

Hello Evoguy,
Thanks for ur concern. I have busied out the signalling group and released. But the situation persists. Currently the trunk is back in Service but long after i did any troubleshooting on it. The IVR guys also say they did nothing. In fact this is the second time this is happening and getting restored by itself. I beginning to suspect the TN Circuit pack on the PBX side or the trunk interface card on the IVR side.
