I hope you guys can help me out with this!! I have a situation where I have an ethernet port on my router connected directly to another ethernet port on an adjacent satellite unit via a x-over cable. My static routing is basically this:

0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 (IP of adjacent satellite unit)
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Async1 200 (Dial backup async interface)

My problem is this:
When the satellite loses its uplink, the IP address is removed from the ethernet port adjacent to my router. This is by design and should be useful for dial backup. However, the ethernet port on my router remains up/up. Even if the ARP table on my router goes incomplete for the IP address of the satellite unit, the route stays installed in the routing table. Can I configure my router to install the more heavily weighted route when the ip destination of the primary route is removed from the port of the adjacent unit, or when the ARP for the neighboring IP goes incomplete? Thanks!!!

C'mon guys! :) I know one of you experts can point me in the right direction..

YES! Thats what I need... Thank you!!
