Static on Vodavi STS InSkin VM

This is on the Vodavi STS InSkin VM. I have two customers on two completely different sites, who have static in the backround when the system greetings or voice mail box greetings are recorded.

It sounds like a quiet record player, like what vinyl records (LP) sound like. Again, it's not the message left by the inbound caller, but the original system message or mailbox greeting.

I have replaced the entire system BKSU and VM, the sound remains. Ground and unground the system and it still makes this rough sound in the backround and it actually plays it back and you can here it in the back round during playback.

I have disconnected the system from all inside wiring; and like I said, I have it happening to me on another site 50 miles away, and a total different install.

Any ideas?

Have you called Vodavi tech support on this problem? If your having the exact same issue on two seperate systems, I would get with tech support as it has to be happening accross the US and see what they are doing aobut it. Please let the forum know what you find as this is a product that I have looked at using and have heard good things about until this issue!

I have called Vodavi tech support on this problem and I have not received a satisfactory solution yet. They claim that the noise is within acceptable noise levels.

I have also been told that varying the CO line volume levels and handset volume levels would correct this problem, it has not.

I recommend looking elsewhere for voicemail products.

Is this the Inskin voicemail with a Harddrive or Flash memory? I had read where they first came out with a Flash memory Inskin voicemail and that they were coming out with a Harddrive version. You also mentioned that it's not happening on the messages left if a voicemail box from an outside caller so I don't understand how tech support would have you vary the CO line levels would correct the problem. It sounds like the problem occurs when you are using a vodavi handset, in the office to record your auto-attendant and voicemial box greetings? Have you tried dialing into a mailbox from outside the system and changing a mailbox greeting that way? See if that makes a difference and using the in office telephones are what is causing the noise. Just a thought and keep us posted on this!
