I have W2K Adv Server and W2K Pro machines all with lastest service packs. Server side is free of errors, both in event viewer and Netdiag tests. On the client side, if I don't enter a static DNS entry to point to our DNS server, I get errors logged on user machines: "Event ID 1000, computer or username cannot be found, return value 1722"...
How to get around this? Should I have to put a static DNS entry in all workstations? I have DHCP setup with DNS entries for server given out..
Thanks in advance....

Have you tried dropping to a command prompt and typing this?

ipconfig /all

This command will tell you whether your DHCP settings are correct. You may have entered your DNS settings incorrectly in your DHCP server. This will tell you all the settings that the machine is receiving.

Also, make sure that all of the TCP/IP properties are using DHCP.

Make sure that you have dynamic updates enabled in your DNS properties. Sometimes this error can occur if you have AD installed and have recently changed the Admin password.
