I am wanting to put page numbers at the bottom of my 79 page document. (It is a book manuscript.) The first 6 pages contain the copyright info, TOC, etc. and I do not want to show page numbers there. I would like to start the page numbering on the 7th page, but want the numbering to show that as page 1. I've tried and tried, but can't figure it out. Can someone please help me?

Thanks a million!

This you can only do by creating 2 publications.
The first publication would cover up to page 6 and the second for the rest of the numbering. Then add these publications to your' Book' list (Utilities). When you come to printing go to Build Booklet (Utilities/Plugins) I think...
..anyway, give it a try.

That´s correct, but splitting will cause new problems:
a) Masterpages cannot be copied from one file to the next
b) PDF Export will be confused, because PDF starts always with No.1 on the first page
c) Hyperlinks (Content, Index,..) are possible ONLY in one file (as far as I know)

Update on my previous message.

In your second publication restart your page numbering at page 7 (Document setup).

Add both publications to your book list making sure that publication 1 is at the first on the list. You should then get an option in 'Print' to 'Print all publications in book' complete with your required numbering.

If you need to make your document into a booklet, choose Utilities/Build booklet/'Impose entire booklet'. This will make your pages into a 'proper book' complete with your required numbering although you may be compelled to have some blank pages to make up to 82 pages if Duplexing.

Hope this helps

Book defines an order for all files (pages),
but Booklet is necessary for PRINTING the book in a printing company.
The service bureau can do this job better, because they know,
how to arrange the pages on a large sheet.
Neither for desktop printing nor for PDF export it´s necessary.
That´s right ? ----G.Hoffmann
