HI
THERES IS ANYWAY TO RELOAD THE SOFTWARE TO THE FLASH?

You can do a re-install (default the system to new) if thats what you mean.
Login to F983 with your password and press 1, password = REINSTALL.
To intialize press F983 (password =266344) and setup your perimeters.

just turn off the Star talk but when i turn on
do not start

Take a DB25 to DB9 serial cable and hookup to the flash with a PC. Use Hyperterminal to connect and 1200 8n1.

After you hit connect in hyperterminal, power up the Flash and watch what it says.

If you get errors, pass that along to us here.

If you can cut and paste what it shows, that would help me figure out what's going on.

Do a Feature **xftest 266344 with the Flash still hooked up and powered. If the only code you come up with is F903, all the programming is lost. You will have to do F903 and start from scratch. If you get no codes at all or they all test as not active, something else is wrong.

The Flash is famous for defaulting to factory setting when it takes a power spike hit it can't handle.

ok this the errors

Your switch is the problem. Replace the line cords with new ones. Check the cross connect wires and re-punchdown if they don't look solid.

This Flash was working on this Norstar recently or is it a new addition?

What is the software version of your switch?
Might be a compatibility issue

First re-do the F**xftest and remove all the feature codes on at a time. The reboot the Flash and see what happens.

Did you ever get a "Login" prompt on the Flash?
If you did use SYSMGR and look at reports to see if the mailboxes are still there.

If you get nothing you need to try doing a Feature 903 to see it will get new feature codes from the switch.

My only guess from here is software conflict or like you guessed at first, screwy software card.

thanks VencomRob
yes the flash is working in the same system
and a try the feature 903 and give inactive feature

Well something is up with the connection between the Flash and the KSU. Check all connections and re-terminate them. Rebooting the system might help. Sounds like KSU doesn't see the Flash anymore.

What is the softare version on the switch and what is it? (MICS, CICS, 8x24, 6x16)

Leave the Flash off when you reboot and then power it up after the KSU comes to life. Disconnect the ports from the Flash while it is off. When you are ready to power up the Flash, plug the ports back in the same way they came out then plug in the power.

Monitor the bootup with the serial cable as you did before. If you still get that repeating Functerm message, then you need to try new software.
