I have XP professional. 950MHZ, 400megRam, GF430MX. When starting up my computer It always seems that my norton internet takes way to long to come up. There is no other apps working but there is an old ati capture card and always looks for the vid.dll
I have dual boot and still use this card on 98 but wont work with XP. I tend to think its the card.

hello another dual booter i see, i stumble across this same topic with another reply today it appears you may have this problem with it being fat 32 on the old windows and then your xp may be ntsf it wont read it ..
>Therefore, if you format a Windows 98 or Windows Me partition as FAT, and a Windows XP partition as NTFS, any files on the NTFS partition will not be available or visible if you try to access them while running Windows 98 or Windows Me. <
oh try deinstalling that norten virous program compleatly its makes xp buggy, i have a free one from grisoft.com

are you saying your trying to use a old ati card with 98 drivers on xp windows in that duel set up? the video card wont work and will give you weard start up readings and may crash your windows with those 98 drivers you have on that same hardrive you need to install xp drivers for that card

Your right. I have both, 98se fat32 and XP ntsf. Only thing to do now is Format my drive--NOT AGAIN. Thanks aces.

sorry you have to reformat it bro. PLEASE also Remove or DO NOT install norton after reformating its not compatable with XP, i have read some more post on this forun and every tom dick and harry is having a system slow down with norton..
