Start Button Keeps Activating

OK, I've got a vague report of a problem from a user. The Windows Start button keeps constantly flicking on and off showing the Start Menu on their laptop.

Is this just a dirty keyboard, or are there any other possibilities please?

Replace the keyboard temporarily to eliminate that as a possible cause.

If it continues to happen with a replacement keyboard then there are other possibilities. One of them is a practical joke, i.e. a VBS script that uses SendKeys to activate the Windows key repeatedly.

I guess you could try an external keyboard. But I would assume dirt as the first likely culprit. It is amazing what you can extract from a keyboard.
