The standby option has disappeared from Windows 98 on my laptop.
I received a message stating that the last few times the op system tried to go into standby mode the system stopped responding and I think I responded that the system should not go into standby again. Now I don't seet the the standby option on the shut down menu nor does the laptop g into shutdown using the laptop keys (except in dos before windows is loaded)
I have searched the site for similar questions but can't see any response sthat helped resolve the situation.
For those who say that standby is a waste of time as I have read in similar quetions... I need to use it to to put the laptop away quickly and start up aain when on the move. Going through the complete shutdown and startup takes too long.
