I am getting ready to roll-out xp pro. Is there a way to standardize it so that no matter who logs in it will look the same everytime. I am refering to background, resolution, start menu, etc.
Currently there is an NT4 DC in place. With plans of upgrading that next.
What I am wondering is if there is a script that can be run or some sort of group policy. Any and all suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays.

I agree Bill. I have a stand alone xp pro set-up with a workgroup. I have created users but don't see anywhere the option to make Mandatory or Roaming profiles. I take it this is because I would have to be in a domain or network to have these options? Is this correct?

And Merry christmas to ya and to all tek-tippers!

cheers pech

pech,

In a Workgroup setting where the profiles are going to be stored on local filestores, you (as Administrator) go to each profile and rename NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN.

You first use the steps linked above to create a custom default user profile.

Ah, I think I might be missing something here because when I go to control panel there is no performance and management options, just the admin tools. Did I miss something when installing Xp pro?

pech,

Your control panel is in Class view.

You should have Computer Management under Administrative Tools.

Thanks to all. I will look at these suggestions.
