I hoping someone can explain what's happening here.

I have a zip250 and a sanDisk compactFlash reader hooked up to my machine via 2 of the 4 USB ports on my MB. While both or either one of these is hooked up I can not get my machine to go into stand by mode. It hangs on the entering stand by mode screen, apparently locking up the machine. I then have to re-start the OS.

If I remove all hardware from my USB ports then the machine enters stand by without any trouble. Now what's weird is I also have a USB mouse and the computer will go into stand by regardless of whether or not the mouse is plugged in. What I don't understand is why will the machine go into stand by with 1 USB device but won't go into standby with two or more devices hooked up?
