Hi! I thought about installing IIS and a Certificate Server and allow the users on the network to connect to it using NTFS authentication and then every user will have a connextion to:

My Documents + Department Share Area

has someone tried this before? Does it sound like a crazy idea?

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish.

It seems like all of your internal network share will already be using NTFS authentication so maybe you are talking about remote access? Like from the outside world connecting to IIS over HTTP/SSL, authenticating against the domain, and then browsing to network resources that are not on the IIS box? ... as sort of a mini-VPN approach?

See I'm probably misunderstanding all over the place here... please explain.

I am trying to create like a mini FTP or something where a user from home can connect to the website and have 2 links one for his private area (my documents) and an other one with the sharearea of his department, this way they can log in from home an have access to their files. so they can upload and download files.
