i have installed and setup Squid proxy i can connect to internet from workstation but it fails after a while with error "no route to host

is your connection permanently on? No route to host means that the network may be down.

yes it is. I dont think the network is down.
Must be something else.

Is the Squid proxy on the workstation? If not, it sounds as if the network is not completely configured on the Squid proxy. That error message only occurs when a machine has attempted to send a packet to an IP address for which it does not have a route.

In this case, it sounds as if the default gateway has not been set, so the machine only knows of the local network.
