sqlplus won't exit after alter database recover...

hey,

I'm seeing some odd behavior w/10.1.0 (linux) where sqlplus hangs on an exit after doing an:

alter database recover automatic until cancel using backup controlfile;

I'm old school and don't believe in rman so this is something of a problem.

has anyone heard of this?

solved it:

I did an "alter database recover cancel;" after the previous step finished. it kind of makes sense but I never had to do this w/8.1.7

anyway, for those of us who can/do work w/o GUIs...
