I am trying to apply SP3 for SQL v7.0 on an NT4.0 (SP4) server. The installation is failing on the Microsoft Management Console with the following error message:
"Unable to load data necessary for the setup. The destination shortcut Primary has invalid parent destination StartMenu Program."
When I check the event viewer the only message relating to the installation is:
"SQLCTR7.0 - Event ID 1001: Shared memory segment already exists"
Can you offer me any guidance as to how to resolve this problem? I've checked our Technet CDs, Technet Online, and various parts of the Microsoft web site but have not been able to locate any pertinent information.
