SQL2000: SP1 installed, now can't find backup device

I have a clustered SQL2000 installation in an Active/Passive configuration. The node that is usually active has a Quantum DLT drive in it. Prior to installing SP1, the DLT was configured as a backup device within SQL and was used regularly for scheduled backups. After the Service Pack installation, I can still see and manipulate the DLT within the OS, but SQL can't see it, and jobs that try to use the virtual backup device fail. I've deleted my backup device assignments to start fresh, but SQL can't find the DLT to make a new virtual device out of it.

Any ideas, short of rolling back the SP install?
