SQL System DSN

Trying to setup a system DSN to connect to SQL database on the same machine. Getting "Connection failed. SQL State 'HYT00' Server Error 0. [OBDC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired.

Can connect with Enterprise manager, but attempts to open database give "data source" errors. There is an existing SQL DSN, but locks up at attempts to see configuration.

Any suggestions?
