My boss says SQL Server is what we need to access the data in the company's server to make an intranet. Aside of a poor project planning, he claims it is the base of the intranet. But I say we can make the data recovery through hyperlinks. Can anyone explain me how can SQL Server help to make an intranet, as if I was a 5-year old boy?

then look under "Platform SDK Documentation" -> Data Services -> SQL Server -> XML and Internet Support -> Accessing SQL Server using HTTP
