I'm having trouble connecting from my local SQL Server 2000 box to another SQL Server 2000 box running on a Windows 2000 Advance Server box that was previously register through the SQL Server Enterprise Manager which is located downstair within the same LAN. I also have trouble connecting to the same SQL Server 2000 box through Query Analyzer.
Previously, my local SQL Server 2000 box was bind to the IP address xxx.2.4.38. As of now, my local SQL Server 2000 box IP address was changed and binded to a new IP xxx.2.2.7 which was getting ready for Production.
The xxx.2.4.38 IP is in the NAT table and the xxx.2.2.7 is not in the NAT table (for Novell). If I switch the new IP back to the original IP than I can connect the SQL Server 2000 box downstair.
For the life of my knowledge, I can't figure out why one IP work and the other doesn't and both are on the same side of the LAN and proxy.
Is there a remedy for this problem?
I really need help here and really appreciate your help. Thank very much.
