SQL Server Backup Performance

We've recently migrated our backup system from Arcserve (Boo hiss!) to Veritas NetBackup DataCenter 4.5 (FP5). We run with a Master and Media server (both Windows 2000 SP4) and I'm getting very slow performance from one of our SQL2000 servers (Windows 2000, SP4, NetBackup Client 4.5, FP5) being backed up to the Media Server. I've searched around, but I can't find any information on performance tuning that is specific to SQL. Does anyone have any ideas, or know of some docs?

Thanks!

What we found was that the SQL client was slower, so we asked our DBA's to do their own backups and then we would backup that image and exclude the live DB. This seems to work very well.

I was hoping to stick with the SQL client as we've purchased it. Has anyone had any luck tweaking it?
