I am having a problem whereby my nightly sql backup job no longer can delete the previous backup.

It was running without an issue.

Key facts:
1) installed software drivers to support a SAN that we plan to use. It has been attached to one of the drives, but not activated. This is the same drive as where the backups go.

anyone bump into this before?

What error messages are you seeing (in SQL Server Error logs and Windows Event Viewer logs)?

If the drive isn't attached and that's where the backups go...how do the backups get to that drive? And how is SQL Server supposed to delete the backups if the drive isn't attached?
