Hello,

We have a Windows 2003 Standard Server/SP1. We are using this server for our website.

We have a consultant who is developing our website. The consultant wants to use database driven pages.

We were planning on install SQL Server 7 for this database. Will SQL Server 7 work on this server? Are there licensing concerns.(I need to research wether we purchased the necessary licensing for SQL Server 7. We purchased SQL Server 7 a long time ago. ).

If SQL Server 7 is not compatible, what would you recommend as a cheap database solution for a Windows 2003 Standard Web server? Would SQL Server 2000 or Mysql.com be a better solution?

Thanks for your help.

SQL Server 7 is nearing the end of it's life cycle. I would recommend purchasing SQL Server 2000 as your database back end. Especially if you have someone in house who is farmiler with SQL 7.

I don't beleive that SQL 7 is supported on Windows 2003 server. I've got a FAQ in the SQL forums that covers SQL licensing faq962-5153.
