Hi,

I am wondering what's new in SQL Server 7.0
Please let me know if there are any links about difference between versions 6.5 and 7.0

Thanks
Dilip

The major difference between 6.5 and 7.0 is the back-end engine. Microsoft brought in a number of software engineers from Informix to completely re-write it. Up to now SQL Server was essentialy Sybase ported to NT.

The other major step was with OLAP Services. This has functionality that previously cost thousands of pounds, and is given away free! Microsoft gave a real scare to the OLAP tools market and totally changed it overnight. My home ----> My company ->

6.5 really stinks when compared to 7.0.

7.0 is faster, is very reilable, never gets corrupted data, and is an all-around way cool product when compared to 6.5.
