Myself and a colleague have been asked to supervise the implementation of SQL2k (Hardware and software). We are working on forecasting and production databases, plus beginning a data warehousing project, for a small manufacturing company in Hampshire. We anticipate a high level of data enquiry rather than of manipulation of the core tables. Also the user base is only going to be about thirty in total.
Has anyone on the list got any experiences (good or bad) in this type of installation. Or contacts with anyone that has similar installations.
My main areas of worry are the fact that in order to allow for the type of functionality that the company is looking for, HTML/XML, query creation for report, etc we have opted for the 2k package rather than 7 the latter may be the more stable tested platform.
Any advice or tips would be gratefully received.

I have been testing sql2k (vers 8.0) beta 2 for a while and have found no significant problems. It doesn't appear to be a major rewrite. It coexists with 7.0 (multiple instances) so that further validates my theory of no rewrite.
It has much better admin functions (eg: object browser with sql analyzer, etc.). It has enhanced english query if you want to go that way. Since you don't have other major applications already running with it, you don't have to worry about compatability (we do).
Good luck
